Bekymring for pårørendes situasjon i hele Europa

Eurocarers – vår europeiske paraplyorganisasjon har uttrykt sin bekymring for pårørendes situasjon under Covid19 krisen. I Europa står pårørende, familie og venner for nær 80 % av den hjelpen som gis til syke og eldre. Når det nå i land etter land skjer dramatiske endringer, lock down og et stort trykk på helsetjenestene, er det disse som er den virkelige førstelinjetjenesten. Mange isoleres nå helt sammen med den de er prørende til og det vil føre til store konsekvenser for helsen. Videre blir det press på essensielt materiell som smittevern og nødvendig medisinsk utstyr. Og hvilke planer finnes om pårørende selv blir syke og ikke lenger kan yte omsorgen for den de er pårørende til?

De skriver følgende i en pressemelding som de sendte ut:

"«Carers are essential to the sustainability of our care systems and ignoring their situation and needs in the context of the current health crisis would amount to no less than a disaster. «

Om arbeidet til EuroCarers: Eurocarers is the European network representing informal carers and their organisations, irrespective of the particular age or health need of the person they are caring for. Our network currently brings together 70 carers’ organisations as well as relevant research & development organisations from 26 countries. Eurocarers was established by and for its members and works from the ‘bottom up’ to ensure that the voices of carers are heard at local, regional, national and EU levels and that the impact of policy on their daily lives is recognised by both policymakers and politicians.
